Fabulous Vintage Friends

Hello My Lovelies,

Over the next couple of months we will be featuring fabulous friends of The Traditional Vintage Flower Company…

This week I want to introduce you to our dear friend Catherine from Vintage Loves Roses. A very talented Wedding Stationery Designer whom we had the pleasure of meeting just recently at a prestigious awards ceremony. We were really taken by her designs so thought we would share them with you and being vintage lovelies, we asked her some questions as well. So enjoy. Clare x

Could you tell us what prompted you to become a wedding stationery designer?

I am quite new in the world of weddings, however I did run my own greeting cards company many years ago. I would make cards from photographs that I’d taken, which I totally loved doing. But I had to stop when I then had a once in a life-time opportunity to go travelling around the world with two best friends and I couldn’t say no! I then came back to England and moved to London and after trying several other roles knew my first love was always Weddings. I’d always been happy crafting or designing into the wee small hours of the night, be it designing a new room layout, or a card for a friend, or a fancy dress outfit (HUGE fan of fancy dress!). So I decided to take that love of designing and apply it to the most creative industry of them all – the wedding industry! So in April last year (2012) I left my job and started working on getting Vintage Loves Roses off the ground. I sold my first invitations in July and haven’t looked back since!

When did you start your company and where are you based?

As I stated above, I started my business in July 2012, so I’m pretty fresh in the Wedding industry. I have the luxury of working from home based in West London, which I share with my fiancé and my crazy cat Molly.

What kind of service to you offer?

At Vintage Loves Roses we sell wedding stationery that is stylish and quirky with a vintage twist. You will find gorgeous vintage inspired stationery, bursting with personality and just itching to be part of your day. Designs can be altered to match any colour theme and text can be personalised at no extra cost. The final designs are printed professionally on sumptuous 350gsm silk board.

We offer matching items such as Save the Date, Ceremony Programs, Menus, Table Numbers/Names, Table Plans and Thank You cards and anything else you can think of! I also offer a bespoke service for couples who have their own creative ideas for their special day.

I like to make sure I personally devote extra care and attention to each couple to make sure their designs are perfect for them. Since I understand how stressful organising a wedding can be, I want working with me to be a stress free zone!
Could you tell us about some of your recent commissions?
One of my favourite parts of my job is when I get to design something totally personal and unique for a couple; not only do I get to hear all about their romantic proposals and exciting plans for their wedding day, but I get to feel like a part of their wedding - which is pretty cool I think.

Recently I have had the pleasure of working on some very lovely bespoke creations which have involved developing a range of stationery around one couple’s romantic proposal in Paris. Their final design was full of soft vintage greens, the Eiffel Tower and a postcard with French script. Another bespoke creation was for a couple who had a story similar to that of ‘Sliding Doors’ and whom seemed destined to meet for years. Their design therefore reflected this in a story board invitation, detailing how they ‘nearly’ met over four times before finally meeting and falling in love. They then matched their colours to the bridesmaid’s dresses and had matching stickers for their envelopes. Making their invites totally unique to them!

How would you describe your style?

The style of stationery on offer from Vintage Loves Roses is a mixture of style, fun and quirkiness. All designs have a vintage or retro twist to them – through either a vintage background or texture or from the use of fonts. I love all there is about vintage style, but I also like to give my designs a glamorous edge that is perfect for couples big day.

What are your plans of 2013?

Ooooh so many plans for 2013, including launching my new website, baby and homeware collections and hopefully collaborating with some fabulous suppliers in the Wedding Industry! Along with planning my own wedding for 2014, all that should keep me suitably busy I reckon!
